An overview of your trip

DAY 1 Fly to Luang Prabang

Fly from the UK to Luang Prabang.

DAY 2 Arrive Luang Prabang

Upon arrival at the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed Luang Prabang, our guide will meet and organise your transfer to your hotel to check-in. In the evening, experience a traditional Baci Ceremony with dinner. This traditional ceremony is performed to call escaped spirits back to the body and is very important for Lao people before major events such as weddings, births, travel or when welcoming friends, to bring good luck. This welcoming ritual is followed by a traditional dance and dinner where many typical Lao dishes are eaten.

DAY 3 Khuang Si Waterfalls

Visit the impressive Stupa of Wat Visoun, a peaceful temple featuring the much-photographed Watermelon Stupa. Continue to the National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace, and drive through beautiful countryside filled with rice fields, hills, and villages, stopping at a tribal village, on your way to the scenic Khuang Si Waterfall. Marvel at the crystal clear waters as they tumble into the many pools, ideal for a refreshing dip for those who have remembered to take their swimwear.

DAY 4 Pak Ou Caves

Start the day at Wat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang, dating back to the 16th century. Travel upstream on the Mekong River to the sacred Buddha caves of Pak Ou. Stop at the local villages of Ban Xanghai and Ban Xang Khong, and see Phousi Mountain, popular as a place to watch the sun set.

DAY 5 Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng

Following breakfast at your hotel, travel to Vang Vieng, nestled in a bend of the Nam Song River, and explore the famous caves of Tham Jang.

DAY 6 Vang Vieng

Today is free at your leisure to explore Vang Vieng and the local area for yourself. Perhaps take an optional kayaking tour on the Nam Song River.

DAY 7 Vang Vieng to Vientiane

Travel south to Vientiane, and tour the city seeing the oldest temple, Wat Sisaket, home to thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo. Visit the That Luang Stupa and the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph!

DAY 8 Vientiane to Phnom Penh

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure to relax or explore the local area.

DAY 9 Phnom Penh

After breakfast, visit the National Museum, the famous Royal Palace, built in 1866, and the adjoining Silver Pagoda. Explore the bustling central market and walk through Phnom Penh’s old French quarter. Marvel at Wat Phnom, a Buddhist temple located in the heart of the city, and continue to the moving Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, followed by a relaxing stroll by the river.

DAY 10 Phnom Penh to Battambang

Drive to Battambang, pausing en-route at the former capital of Oudong, and continue to Kompong Chhnang, well known for its fine clay pottery. Upon arrival at Battambang the rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening evening, enjoy a performance from The Phare Ponleu Selpak, Cambodian Circus.

DAY 11 Battambang to Siem Reap

In the morning explore the vibrant Battambang Market, then continue on to a local village, to see rural life. Ride on the famous bamboo train, which was originally made for local villagers to transport their goods. Drive to Siem Reap, stopping to experience the unique Mechrey Floating Village, on the way.

DAY 12 Siem Reap Temples

Depart early for the sunrise at Angkor Wat. This 12th-century temple took 30 years to build, and shows the Khmer civilisation at its grandest. After breakfast explore Angkor Thom by Tuk Tuk, visiting the South Gate and the Bayon. Continue to Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. See Ta Prohm Temple, undoubtedly the most atmospheric ruin at Angkor, as it has been left to the jungle. In the late afternoon, watch the sunset over atmospheric Angkor Wat.

DAY 13 Fly to UK

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
