9 day Tour Itinerary

An overview of your trip

DAY 1 Fly to Tokyo

Take a scheduled flight from your regional UK airport to Tokyo.

  • Transport: Airplane
DAY 2 Arrive Tokyo

Arrive at Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda International Airports, where you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your accommodation. The rest of day is at your leisure to relax or explore the local area.

DAY 3 Tokyo City Tour

Start the day with a visit to the Miraikan, a Science and Technology museum, filled with technology, robots and more. Enjoy a cruise on the Sumida River for a unique view of the city from the water. Have lunch in Asakusa then visit the Sensoji Temple and the popular Nakamise Street, said to be one of the oldest shopping streets in Japan. Experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, then stroll around Shinjuku, a lively shopping and entertainment area. The day ends with a visit to the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for spectacular views of this unique metropolis.

DAY 4 Mt. Fuji and Hakone

Your main luggage will be transferred from Tokyo to Kyoto, so pack a small bag for your stay at Mount Fuji. View the scenery as rural Japan passes your window on your drive to Mt. Fuji and Hakone. Board a pleasure boat cruise across Lake Ashi, and drink  in the picturesque and serene natural beauty of the surrounding area. Ride the Owakudani Ropeway, an aerial lift with spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and Ashinoko Lake. Lunch at a local restaurant, and marvel at the panoramic vista from the Fuji’s 5th station, about 2,300 metres above sea level. (Subject to weather conditions). Transfer to your accommodation where tonight’s dinner will be served.

DAY 5 Mt. Fuji to Kyoto and Nara

After breakfast take your transfer to Atami or Odawara Station for a bullet train to Kyoto, where our representative will meet you and take you on a tour of Nara. Visit the Todaiji Temple, a  UNESCO World Heritage-listed Buddhist temple in Nara Park, famed for its gilt bronze Great Buddha statue, which was cast in 749. Nara Park, is home to hundreds of sacred deer, who are allowed to freely roam the city and the Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Following the tour, check-in at your accommodation for a two night stay.

DAY 6 Kyoto City Tour

Your Kyoto City Tour includes the Nijo Castle which was built in 1603, and the beautiful Kinkaku-ji Temple (Golden Pavilion), a zen temple where the top two floors are covered in gold leaf. The afternoon includes the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, home to thousands of torii gates, and the Buddhist Sanjusangendo Temple, filled with 1001 statues of Kannon, the Goddess of mercy. Finally, enjoy the panoramic view of Kyoto from the main hall of the Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Your tour ends in the atmospheric Gion district, where you can explore and may perhaps glimpse a Geisha on her way to her evening appointments.

DAY 7 Kyoto to Hiroshima

Your main luggage will be transferred from Kyoto to Osaka, so pack a small bag for tonight. After breakfast, catch a bullet train to Hiroshima, where you will be met and taken by ferry to Miyajima to visit the spiritual Itsukushima Shrine. Here, the mountains, sea and shrine blend in harmony, to create a magical scene. Upon return to Hiroshima, visit the moving Peace Memorial Park, and the Genbaku-dome, the only structure left standing in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on 6 August 1945, and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.

DAY 8 Hiroshima to Osaka

After breakfast, leave your accommodation and make your way to the station by foot, for a bullet train to Osaka. On arrival, your guide will take you to visit the 450 year old Osaka Castle, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the country, and on to the Dotonbori District, an iconic area, known for its neon lights, restaurants and tasty street food. Check-in at your hotel for the final night of the tour.

DAY 9 Fly to UK

Time at leisure before being transferred to Kansai International Airport for your flight back to the UK.
