12 day Tour Itinerary

An overview of your trip

DAY 1 Fly to Tokyo

Take your scheduled flight from the regional UK airport to Tokyo.

  • Transport: Airplane
DAY 2 Arrive Tokyo

Arrive at Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda International Airport where you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your accommodation. The rest of day is at leisure to relax or explore the local area.

DAY 3 Tokyo City Tour

Start the day with a visit to Hamarikyu Garden,  a beautifully landscaped public park, a tranquil oasis filled with cherry blossom in spring. Enjoy a cruise on the Sumida River, for an alternative view of the city from the water, followed by a traditional Japanese tea ceremony experience. Admire the Sensoji Temple and stroll along the popular Nakamise Street, said to be one of the oldest shopping streets in the country. Then explore Shinjuku, a lively shopping and entertainment area. End the day with a visit to the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, for a stunning cityscape.

DAY 4 Tokyo to Mt. Fuji and Hakone

Your main luggage will be transferred from Tokyo to Kyoto, so pack a small bag for tonight. Admire the rural scenes as you drive towards Hakone, and relax on a pleasure boat cruise on tranquil Lake Ashi, marvelling at the serene beauty of this natural lake. Ride on the thrilling Owakudani Ropeway, an aerial lift with spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and Ashinoko Lake. Savour lunch at a local restaurant before ascending to Mt. Fuji’s 5th station, about 2,300 metres above sea level, for yet more picturesque vistas. Transfer to this evening’s accommodation, where dinner will be served.

DAY 5 Mt. Fuji to Kyoto and Nara

After breakfast, your transfer will take you to the station for your bullet train to Kyoto. Upon arrival, our guide will meet and take you to Nara to visit the Todaiji Temple, a historically significant temple housing Japan’s largest bronze Buddha statue. Nara is home to hundreds of sacred sika deer, who are free to roam the area and are one of the more unique tourist attractions you are likely to see. Your final stop is Kasuga Taisha a Shinto shrine at the edge of the ancient Kasugayama Forest.

DAY 6 Kyoto City Tour

Places of interest on today’s city tour include Nijo Castle which was built in 1603 and the beautiful Kinkaku-ji Temple (Golden Pavilion), a zen temple where the top floors are covered in gold leaf. Admire the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, home to thousands of torii gates, and the Sanjusangendo Temple, a Buddhist temple filled with 1001 statues of Kannon, the Goddess of mercy. Finally, marvel at the panoramic views from the Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Your tour ends in the atmospheric Gion district, where you can explore and may perhaps glimpse a Geisha on her way to her evening appointments.

DAY 7 Kyoto to Hiroshima

Once again, your main luggage will be transferred from Kyoto to Osaka for you, and you need to pack a small bag for tonight’s stay in Hiroshima. After breakfast, take the bullet train to Hiroshima, where you will be met and taken to Miyajima, home of the Itsukushima Shrine. The glorious vista created by the mountains, sea and shrine blending in harmony, makes this one of the most beautiful in the country.Upon return to Hiroshima, visit the Peace Memorial Park and Genbaku-dome (The Atomic Bomb Dome), designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Then check-in at your hotel for the night.

DAY 8 Hiroshima to Osaka

Check-out of your hotel after breakfast, and walk to the station to catch your bullet train to Osaka. On arrival, our guide will meet you and take you to the five-storey Osaka Castle, one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks, and on to the Dotonbori District, known for its neon lights, restaurants and tasty street food.

DAY 9 Fly to Seoul

Transfer to Kansai International Airport, after breakfast, for your flight to Seoul. Our representative will meet you on arrival in Korea, and show you to the shared transfer to your hotel, to check-in for a 3 night stay. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to get to know your surroundings and relax after your flight.

DAY 10 Seoul City Tour

Breakfast is followed by a morning tour of this bustling city. Pass by the Blue House, home to the president of South Korea, and explore the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace, which dates back to 1395. Here you should also see the changing of the Royal Guard, an elaborate and memorable ceremony and visit the National Folk Museum, which charts the history of the Korean people from prehistoric times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty. Finally, Insadong, a vibrant neighbourhood and one of the cultural and artistic hubs of Seoul, filled with traditional tea houses, tempting restaurants, tasty street food stalls, galleries and many shopping opportunities. The afternoon is at your leisure, to explore Seoul further, at your own pace.

DAY 11 DMZ Tour

Take a fascinating morning tour to the DMZ, one of the most unusual tourist destinations in the world. This visit is a real eye-opening experience and will leave you with a dramatic sense of the tremendous tragedy of separated families, the division of the peninsula and the hopes for reunification. The rest of the day is at leisure, for last-minute sightseeing and souvenir shopping.

DAY 12 Fly to UK

Take a shared transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
