An area of scenic beauty within easy reach of Tokyo
Nikko is a town in Japan’s Tochigi Prefecture, in the mountains north of Tokyo. It is located along Japan’s Romantic Road and at the entrance to Nikko National Park. The park is famous for World Heritage Site Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Japan’s most lavishly decorated shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Other areas of interest include the beautiful Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. Nikko is recognised for its beautiful autumn colours and makes an ideal excursion for a one or two days.
